Apartment Moving Checklist

Moving into off campus housing near Clemson University is like studying for a test: as long as you prepare and remain organized, the result will be good. At The Ridge Clemson, new residents move into our student apartments every semester. Consult this move-in checklist to make the transition into your new home as smooth as possible.

Consider Movers in Clemson, SC

After you have signed a lease, deciding how to transport your belongings to The Ridge is the first step in moving. Typically, students choose between two options.

Hiring Movers

Thousands of people request assistance from professional movers at the beginning of each semester while moving into Clemson student apartments. If you choose to hire a moving company, schedule its services a few weeks in advance instead of waiting until the last minute, when most movers will be too busy.

Do-It-Yourself Move

For a do-it-yourself move, you can either purchase packing supplies from a moving company or use suitcases and bags you already own. Since the apartments at The Ridge are fully furnished, do-it-yourself moves are often sufficient.

Handle Business with Your Landlord

Compared with residents of on campus dorms, students in off campus Clemson apartments have more freedom and responsibilities. Your duty at the time of moving into an apartment is to handle all outstanding business with the property manager.

Signing Your Individual Housing Contract

Signing the apartment lease in the leasing office is a pivotal step toward moving into an apartment. At the lease signing, the landlord outlines the rules of the community, explains how to use the amenities and make rent payments, and answers any questions you may have. Also, upon signing the lease, you may need to settle any outstanding balance on your rental account.

Apartment Responsibilities

In contrast to residents of traditional apartments, students at The Ridge have internet, cable, and most utilities provided for them. Thus, the only utility account our residents need to set up is with the electricity company; this usually happens when the lease is signed. After the lease and other paperwork are complete, you can pick up the key and, if applicable, a parking pass from the leasing office, head to your apartment, and begin unpacking boxes.

Become Acclimated to the Community

Some students have roommates picked out before moving into their off campus apartments near Clemson University, whereas other students use roommate-matching services. Upon moving to The Ridge, you can begin bonding with your roommates and meeting the neighbors. Take a tour of the rest of the community to learn where all the amenities are located and begin using the pool, study lounges, and other resources as soon as possible.

Stock Up on the Essentials

Unpacking will give you an idea of what else you need to be completely settled in. Although there are several dining options within walking distance from The Ridge, it’s advisable to shop for groceries so you can start cooking meals in your kitchen. Also, pick up the essential toiletries such as toilet paper, a toothbrush and toothpaste.
